One of lovely female cats had to be put to sleep today. It's all come as bit of a shock as she was only 8, seemed fine at the weekend, a bit out of sorts yesterday but this morning she couldn't really move.
I took her to the vet and as soon as the vet saw her she indicated that it didn't look good. They did a few blood tests and confirmed that she wasn't going to get better.
Thankfully my lovely neighbour stayed with the children and I was able to go and be with her at the end. I think that had helped as I was feeling so guilty about possibly not being with her. I was amazed at how quickly and peacefully it was all over, and I can't fault the compassion shown by the vets we saw.
We've had her since she she was born. Her mother was a feral cat who gave birth to 4 kittens under the shed at our old house. We ended up keeping all 5 of them. Sadly we now only have 3 as one of the boys vanished 18 months ago. She was such a friendly cat and loved her cuddles. She spent most of the time asleep on the edge of the trampoline or on a surface in thd kitchen that she wasn't actually allowed on (& she knew it!).
I think I'm just a bit in shock about it all. DH is working away this week so everything has fallen to me.
I'm not actually sure of the point of this post I guess I just wanted to write it down. Sorry for the rambling.
