Cat shivering

This morning my old girl was in the house, which was a good temperature, with nothing scaring her and no way she was injured. She was shivering. I stroked her lots and she was purring and looking happy but continued to shiver.

So, what's all that about? (Seeking reassurance that she's fine and this isn't old age).

Im not sure but hope all is well. My old cat feels really cold to touch these days but she definitley doesnt shiver. Bear in mind purring can be self comfort so look out for any other signs she might not be herself.

Well it's not "normal", it's a sign of illness (potentially fever) or stress/shock usually. How is she now? How old is she and when did she last have a vet check up?

As pp says, purring is not always a "good" sign, they purr when they are not feeling very well also.

That doesn't sound right at all. Our old girl often had a lower than ideal temperature but never shivered.
I think a vet visit is needed.

Our old cat did this once. Turned out she was quite poorly. She slept on a cardboard box under a blanket, for about 3 days, only woke occasionally for a drink or a wee, and then she was fine! She lived till she was about 19.
I would now be inclined to take a shivering cat to the vet, just in case.

I took her to the vet and she checked her over but couldn't suggest anything.

She's not very cooperative at the vet as she's had a few surgeries.

She seems fine and is going about her day as normal.

She's been getting so affectionate over the last few months, it's making us worried she's becoming a geriatric.

We don't know exactly how old she is as she was a rescue and she's had a few health problems in the past... I love her so much.
