Cat proof HWB

Hi all,

Wasn't really sure where to post this but hopefully fellow cat slaves will have encountered this issue before.

I have a cat who just loves to hunt down and destroy hot water bottles. I'm 90% sure he does it to spite me.

Has anyone come across a hot water bottle that is cat proof?

THANK YOU

Is it the type of latex they make them with?.

Our cat has two hwb. Both started off as mine.....

Maybe DH has been bringing home sub standard ones.

You know, I don't think I'd mind as much if he slept on them but he just thinks they're a great toy. The last one survived from 7pm to 1am in our house before being quickly and stealthily savaged whilst I nipped to the loo...

You can get a latex free type, would putting a cover on it help?.

CosilyRosily · 21/03/2019 22:27

Unfortunately he seems to be able to get through every cover we've tried.

Definitely worth trying the non-latex based ones - thank you!

We use Snugglesafe heat pads for us. Found that tiny cat didn't like them, not soft enough for her. They are a bit hard but not too bad wrapped in something fleecy, stay warm longer than a HWB too.

Why do you need hot water bottles if you have a cat?

Fluffycloudland77 · 22/03/2019 10:10

Hot water bottles don't poke you in the mouth at 4:30am demanding breakfast.

CosilyRosily · 22/03/2019 10:53

Annoyingly he has so far been unamenable to standing in as a heat source. But he's only 7 months old so there's still time...

I shall look into the heat pads - it's more for cramps than anything else so I'm not sure if the "hardness" of it will be exactly ideal but definitely worth a shot! Thank you!

At least there is relatively little chance of a cat bursting in the middle of the night... (although one of my cats did once throw up IN the bed Sad )

CosilyRosily · 22/03/2019 11:36

Bleugh I live in fear of this happening. HWB-assasin's littermate likes to bring us rubbish when we're in bed. This morning I awoke cuddled up to a chocolate bar wrapper that I assume had been fished out of the bin Hmm
