Cat poo - normal?

I feel like I am asking a lot of questions on here since getting my cats and now I have another one

We rescued our 9mo cat (dcat) about 2 months ago. She is a fussy madam and we finally settled on Applaws tins and Iams kitten dry which she was eating well, and producing normal looking cat poo. She refused several other foods, the only other wet food she would eat was Hilife if we mixed it with the Applaws but she started vomiting so we stopped giving it and went back to Applaws and this settled.

3 weeks ago we introduced dkitten into the house (I had wanted 2 all along). Dkitten arrived on James Wellbeloved kitten. They constantly eat each other’s food so when the Iams dry ran out I carried on with the JWB and bought Applaws and Cosma wet kitten food for the kitten.

For the past week or so dcat’s poos are much softer. Not what I would call diarrhoea but not formed, more of a blob with some form at the start or end. Dkitten is more variable - sometimes formed, sometimes more sticky. Dcat occasionally coughs up a furball, no more full on vomits since I stopped giving Hilife. Both appear well otherwise with lovely shiny coats. Both have recently been wormed. Neither are looking skinny. I have slowly stopped the JWB and moved onto Ava dry to rule out a reaction to the JWB. Today was the first day of just Ava.

Is this worth a vet trip for one/both cats?

Sounds like they are just a bit unsettled with the food changes. I would think it will settle down. Cheddar is often like this as she's very sensitive.

I'd only visit the vet if you like handing over money for nothing.

Try not to worry. It'll settle down. Maybe just feed high quality dry with plenty of water available for a while

They both drink water well so no issue there. I’ll carry on with Ava and Applaws/Cosma tins then and keep an eye. I don’t really want to go back to Iams or JWB because neither appear to contain that much meat, and the Ava is grain free.

After a few days of improvements last night it was quite wet again. We went away this weekend and our neighbour popped in on them several times a day and we came home to carnage! One of them had kicked a particularly wet poo up the wall and then trodden in it and walked it around the bathroom and utility room

So I’m off to buy a covered tray today (I’ll have to remove the door though as dcat is frightened of cat flaps ) and I thought I would try some Logic Firm whilst I’m in Pets at Home - does anyone have any experience of it?

We had similar issues with our 8-month old kitten: getting a little better then seeming to regress suddenly and becoming quite ill. Pro-kaolin (you can get it from the vets) helped him a little, but the real thing that fixed it was moving him on to smaller portions of food at a time. He now has 1/2 a pouch at any one time - any more than that and he starts getting ill again.

They only have half a tin of Applaws each at a time, plus free access to kibble. They seem perfectly healthy, rolling around on the floor wrestling at the moment but the house is beginning to whiff

Always changed foods over slowly, although, obviously easier said than done if they're pinching eachother's food.

It might be worth taking it slowly and elliminating each of their foods for 2/3 days and see if that helps. My Boris is fine on ordinary Felix, but Felix AGAIL gives him very soft sloppy poos, I've tried a few other wet cat foods, some make him a bit soft.

What do you expect if you allow your cat to roam outdoors, they do actually eat rubbish from peoples wheely bins you know. I shudder at the thought of all the festering bacreria, inside those filthy black bin bags. Disgusting really.
