Introducing cats

Picking up a 1yo cat today, mainly for my 10yo DD as friendly cats help with her anxiety, our current cat (Rosie) only likes attention from me....

I’m worried about current cats reaction, she’s been an only cat for over a year. Should I keep them completely separate for a few days or bite the bullet straight away? New cat is friendly with other cats, ours is temptemental.

Any tips would be great thank you! I’ve only ever had to do this before with our old laid back cat when Rosie was a teeny kitten, so dynamics were very different.

This is the method recommended by most cat rescues for their adopters: www.catchat.org/index.php/new-cat-introductions

I think you should allow a couple of weeks.

Perfect thanks, never sure if advice found online is actually the right advice. I’ll buy a feliway plug in tomorrow too 👍🏼

I just plonked Cheddar down in the hall and magic came and sniffed her and that was that. they were fine. No fisticuffs. But they are Persians and both used to other cats so I knew they'd be ok.

She’s here, not nervous at all and desperate to get exploring. I’m hoping Rosie actually realises she’s there (hasn’t after several hours) or keeping her in the room seems pointless.
