Advice on Persian care

I have seen a Persian kitkat at my local c.p. and wonder if all your Persian slaves can give me any tips, will he need any special care apart from daily brushing and eye wipes. My last much loved feline was an Oriental so have gone to the other extreme.

Sadly he isn't my cat. DD and I met him at CP. Super friendly!

Toddlerteaplease · 16/03/2019 13:39

Are you going to go and see him OP?

I had a rescue Persian. He died recently at only 5 years old of a mouth tumour, but I don't believe that was in any way breed-related. He had also suffered from asthma, which I believe is related to the breed

He was very, very sweet, very very loving and astoundingly stupid. The stupidity is definitely breed-related, as is the gentleness and loving personality.

He hated being groomed so I used to have to cut lumps of fur out and get him shaved once a year. Some cats are ok with being groomed of course

"Astoundingly stupid" sums it up really! Though Cheddar appears to have a few more brain cells than Snorg.

Toddlerteaplease · 16/03/2019 15:01

Oh and mine are terrible at playing. You can wave a toy in front of Snorg and she just stares at it bemused. She likes wrestling with things though.
Don't be put off by the potential health issues. Persians are wonderful abs I've actually found them easier than Moggies as they aren't demanding. (Well the first two weren't) cheddar is something else!

Toddlerteaplease · 21/03/2019 15:28

What did you decide, really not over-invested in this at all!

wigglypiggly · 22/03/2019 15:13

Hi, sorry I didnt get back to you, have done my back inSad I rang about going to see him but someone had already reserved him, I hope he has found a lovely new home and will be completely spoilt. Do long hair mogs have the same sort of characters?
