Flea treatment without a prescription

Can anyone recommend any for my cat that I can buy online without needing a prescription? I've always went for frontline but Im starting to think it's not as effective as it once was so would like to try something different.

Thanks.

Advantage

thecatneuterer · 11/03/2019 12:15

Yes, Advantage is the only safe and effective treatment that can be bought without prescription.

Thesuzle · 11/03/2019 12:17

None of the off the shelf ones work, they are too weak, been there done that spent a fortune, cat still had fleas,, better to pay for the prescription stuff and dose. every month

Advantage isn't strictly speaking 'off the shelf' though. It can only be sold to you by a qualified person (for example in Pets at Home) or a pharmacist. Advantage is also sold in vets. It's absolutely true that nothing you can pick up off a shelf and put in your shopping basket without speaking to anyone works. Advantage does though.

Thanks. I'll give Advantage a try and see how it goes. Will obviously go to the vet if it doesn't clear up 👍

Any recommendations for sites to buy it online at a reasonable price please? There is so many out there to choose from its making my head spin! 🙈

They sell it in pets at home

thecatneuterer · 11/03/2019 12:30

You can also buy it in most chemists.

FloorLamp · 11/03/2019 13:12

In chemists really? I did not know that!

Very rarely go in them mind you 🤷

Thanks I'll check it out

I didn't know you could get it from the chemist either

BabyMoonPie · 11/03/2019 13:25

Our vet has stopped selling us Frontline saying its not effective. We use Advantage. Handily, supermarket pharmacy counters sell flea treatment

Mummyto2munchkins · 11/03/2019 13:37

I work in a veterinary practice, a D if people don't want a prescription advice on Advantage, although this doesn't cover worming treatment.

Pet Drugs Online is a cheap place to get treatment from though :)

Hope the little buggers dissappear!

Thanks all. I have ordered Advantage from the site mentioned above. Hopefully it works! 🤞
