He was nearly 19 and just stopped eating and drinking, I took him to be PTS on Saturday and he went so peacefully. Now I keep forgetting he’s gone and expecting him to be there in his spot when I enter the room.

Oh poor old fellow. They leave such a hole. What was his name?

HeronLanyon · 04/03/2019 23:14

So sorry op. I used to think I’d see mine out of the corner of my eye etc. They leave a huge huge gap. Sending you hugs.

kingfisherblue33 · 04/03/2019 23:15

Ah, bless him. You gave him a lovely life and he was ready to go. Enjoy your memories of him.

myidentitymycrisis · 05/03/2019 07:55

Thanks everyone for listening.
heronlanyon yes I keep thinking he’s there and it’s my handbag or a pair of boots on the floor I can see.
It’s muscle memory partly too, we had a routine together.

They don’t ask to come to us and never complain.

So sorry for your loss OP, it will take some getting used to xx

ifonly4 · 05/03/2019 08:17

So sorry for your loss. I had my last two PTS at 17 and 18. My girl went very quickly and peacefully and vet said it showed she was ready to go. Try and hold onto all the good memories and the fact he had many lovely years with you in a good loving home.

HeronLanyon · 05/03/2019 08:24

I find it comforting that years later I can still remember like it was right now the feel of each of my lovelies. Even the rescue one who never ever sat with or on us (exceptnone extraordinary day when he knew I was having a migraine before I did and came and lay next to my head) and who was as likely to lash out as anything. Loved him to bits the old bastard Flowers op.

Sorry to hear this OP. I had my little cat put to sleep 3 weeks ago. She was nearly 18 and had stopped eating or drinking and like yours it was peaceful. So hard to let them go. I keep expecting her to be there. She was always in the hall by the kitchen door miaowing when I got,up in the morning, she was unable to get up the stairs. I hear a noise and think it’s her. Big hugs Flowers

Vinorosso74 · 05/03/2019 08:50

I'm sorry Flowers. When we had our old girl PTS I thought I kept seeing her out the corner of my eye. They do leave a big hole once they've gone. I'm sure you have lots of happy memories.

Shinesweetfreedom · 05/03/2019 08:53

Little man bless him, good that he wasn’t left to suffer.Who am I kidding I will be a mess when the time comes this end,it will be my pain when kitty is free.Take care

SalitaeDiscesa · 05/03/2019 09:09

Well done for giving him a peaceful ending. We had to do the same with our beloved Milly two years ago. I still miss her and love looking at photos and little videos of her 😊 To us she was the sweetest little cat in the world and it's a joy to remember her. Hope you will feel the same once you get through the first pangs 💐

Hi I’m so sorry to hear your cat wAs PTS. It’s very hard isn’t it?
My cat was PTS this last Friday and I was devastated. I must have cried 30 times on Friday. I too keep expecting to see him around the house in his little favourite spots, or thinking I see a glance of him in the corner of my eye, and I keep finding cat hairs everywhere too. I found the procedure very upsetting but I just keep telling myself I did it for the right reasons. You didn’t let him suffer which is what matters at the end x

HeronLanyon · 05/03/2019 20:57

sosad hugs to you too. It’s a proper thing to do right by those we love but it is so tough.

myidentitymycrisis · 06/03/2019 07:59

Flowers to everyone who has lost their pets. Even though we know it has to happen it’s still so hard to let them go. I heard a noise and thought it was him. I still have a big bag of Hills I bought recently for him and the litter, I will have to deal with that later.

I’m finding cat hairs too sosad and just missing him.

I know, just bobbed home at lunch opened the door and heard what I thought was his bell On his collar ☹️.
I have thrown out the cat food, bowls & litter as I couldn’t bear to look at it. I’m gradually feeling a bit better day by and and I hope you are too x
