Sexually frustrated?

DCat is a 4yr old neutered male. I have caught him several times now humping a soft toy. It’s always the same one and there are plenty to choose from and I don’t know how to stop him. Is this a problem or just perfectly normal cat behaviour if rather yucky? I don’t want DD to find out her favourite toy is being used in this way but I can’t keep washing it for no apparent reason either.

How old was he when he was castrated?

Early, as soon as the vet said it was ok. It’s not happening constantly it’s something I’ve only recently become aware of. We lost another pet in January so I’m not sure if it could be due to this but kind of discarded that thought as it doesn’t seem logical. He’s a feisty character so maybe he’s just still getting some urges, I assumed it couldn’t happen after being neutered.

We have had two neutered male cats and both did/do this - LandingCat never grew out of it and he lived to 18. Especially embarrassing when PILs visited! Think it's normal and there's not much you can do.

One of mine has his "happy place" on top of a fleece blanket on my sofa in full view of the household!

There's nothing you can do. He was neutered at 7 months, not too early, but you can still tell that he doesn't really know what's going on.

At least there are no emissions, no equivalent of a teenage crunchy sock.

I had a fleece sofa throw. Had being the operative word. Ditto my fleece jumper.

Don't know what it is about fleece but it sends the cat into overdrive. If he had any balls left he would have worn them off by now.

Sorry to bring up a weeks old thread, but j think my 11 month old boy might be doing this on my blanket. He kneads the blanket as usual but then places his lower belly on my leg, which is under the blanket..! and sort of vibrates it. Is her actually humping my damn leg? XD

Oh my God XD my sweet, innocent boy isn't so innocent XD I was telling my boyfriend this on the phone last night and he refused to believe me cause he's so cute and innocent. Oh well, I guess my boy is a randy teenager after all (11 months old)!! Thanks for the confirmation!

You could film him and show your boyfriend but you might find you're making a cat porno!

My boyfriend or the cat? 😂 The cat is neutered yes, got him done at 4 months, which is why the humping surprised me.
