Oh my goodness - first 'supervised' outing

I now need a sit down, having let out Dcat for the first time (short period, 'supervised', hungry) - she was absolutely wired, stayed in the garden for a bit, then leapt the fence and disappeared. I have been round all the alleyways calling her and waving chicken about and eventually she appeared. I've grabbed her and brought her back in where she has collapsed on the kitchen floor looking exhausted. I think we both need a drink! I was so worried that she would just leg it and the kids would never forgive me.

Oh, she didn't come to call! She was going up an alleyway towards me and I grabbed her. How on earth are you supposed to supervise a cat going out for the first time unless you like parkour and trespass?
