My poor baby

I've been crying for three days I'm so upset about my lovely 16 year old girl.
She's had diarrhoea for two years, has had every test under the sun and no cause found but so far I've managed it well with steroids and vit B12 injections and she has always managed to get to the litter tray ok.
She went into the vet last week to have her teeth done and an extraction under local anaesthetic because she was in obvious pain from an infected molar.
She came home absolutely pouring with diarrhoea and with a horrendous bladder infection. Her rear end is so swollen I can't tell what is what. How can this happen in a few hours while she was at the vet?
She has pulled out all her fur from her rear end and walks everywhere with a trickle of diarrhoea running from her, I've got puppy trainer pads everywhere and her urine stinks.
She is in obvious pain despite large doses of metacam and antibiotics and I am taking her back to the vet today for the third time this week.
I spread a large duvet cover on the sofa last night so we could cuddle together and she was so happy to curl up with me despite the mess everywhere.
I'm recovering from an abdominal operation I had myself 10 days ago and am finding it really hard to manage all of this as well as I live on my own.
I am just so sorry for her and so scared she will have to be put to sleep. It's unbearable. I just don't know what to do to make her feel better.

Poor you and poor cat. It's horrible when they are ill. Have a hand hold.

Offering another hand hold x

Well the good news is despite all the odds being against her she has recovered. Ok so she's 16 and getting on and slinny but the diarrhoea is almost gone too.
I'm glad I waited a few weeks and didn't get her PTS.
I'm so happy.

So happy to read this and you're obviously an amazing and caring cat mum - so many would have given up on her by now x

Thank you lucky duck. I'm glad I bought that aqua vac a couple of years ago. It has been doing overtime as has the washing machine. Thank God for puppy training pads. Funnily enough she always goes on sleep on one because she seems to know she sometimes leaks a bit when she is fast asleep and when she wakes up she rolls the pad up into a ball to hide it. She's really clever
