Jumping on wall mounted TV

I was wondering if anyone had any advice that might stop my cat jumping on my wall mounted TV.

He is only 8 months old but recently started trying to jump onto of the wall mounted TV in our kitchen.

I'm worried he is going to hurt himself as he tries to leap from the table and doesn't always make it. Not to mention he is scratching the TV and as he gets heavier I worry he could pull it off the bracket or something.

I know there's probably not much that can be done but if anyone has had success in preventing this type of thing I'm all ears!

Balance an empty drink can on the top. It'll put him off or at the worst it'll startle him so much when it falls off he'll never do it again.

I used a similar method to stop a cat jumping on to the work surface in the kitchen.
