He has been weeing in the middle of the kitchen pretty much all the time in front of us and on my daughter’s carpet. We took him to the vet because we suspected he had a uti but the exams came back clear. The vet said it’s probably because something in the house is bothering him.We are taking him again this week to the vet but before we take him I thought I’d asked you cat savvy if you could have an idea !
He wees a lot, when he wees it last long then he licks his bits. He is also a bit overweight !

I have no idea what goes on in their little heads or why he would do this.
You do need to make sure you get rid of the smell of his wee so that he doesn't think that's where he's supposed to go, use a biological detergent or a proper product from the pet shop. Not bleach because it smells of ammonia, like wee.
Have you tried a Feliway plug in to calm him if he's upset about something. You can get calming food too.

I second what the PP has said, and add that putting foil down over the area (after thoroughly cleaning it) may also deter them

The three bottle technic is recommended for cleaning up cat wee
First bottle dilute washing up liquid lather into area
Bottle two water squirted on s blotted up TIL no more suds.
Bottle three surgical spirit sprayed on to remove smell,

Combine this with Feliway classics and an l-tryptophan containing product to deal with the stress.

You can get special cat pee cleaning stuff which gets rid of the return factor.
