Ophie is hiding :(

No idea why., unless it's the snow. She has refused to go out since Thursday (when it started) and has taken herself under my bed, only emerging to eat and to use the litter tray.
She never usually uses the tray..always goes out. She doesn't appear ill, her third eyelid isn't visible, she's eating fine..she just won't come downstairs except for the loo! She's walking fine.
DD2 is upset as usually she sleeps with her !

Could she really just be pissed off with the weather?! She is the ultimate diva of a cat to be fair, but this is unusual for her.

I do wonder if she slipped on ice and it's freaked her out..she is a very sensitive and nervy cat,

Currently DS1 is lying under the bed talking to her and she rolled over for a tickle so I really don't think she's ill..but how do I get her going out again!?

Hmm if this is very unusual I'd pop her to the vet next week for a check up just in case - but I'm super cautious.

Not super worrying or urgent if she's eating and drinking, she might just hate the cold!

Have you picked her up and had a feel of her tummy and joints to see if she's in pain anywhere?

P.s how's Obie?!

I agree if it's unusual behaviour I would take her to the vet. What does she do if you try and pick her up. When Snorg didn't run when I tired to pick her up in knew something was very wrong with her.

Ha she didn't like Portia (she doesn't like any other cats...she is THE QUEEN) but she didn't have free rein of the bedroom before..that was Portia's domain until the last week or so of her life. It may be she has discovered she CAN have the prime hot spot under the bed !

I will keep an eye on her and if she doesn't resume her normal life in a few days I'll pop her for a check up, but if it's just the cold.. FF she's a Maine Coon with the thickest fluffiest coat ever (which incidentally is matting as she hasn't been out to be groomed!)!!!

Obie has not been seen for a few days but I am reliably informed he was heading into Thelma's this morning so I assume he is on her chaise longue...!

I think you’ve hit the na8l on the head, a character like Portia doesn’t just go away. Ophie is making hay while the sun shines before Portia comes back.

Well today she came downstairs and did an enormous poo in the litter tray (thanks!) but then stayed in the living room, eventually went into DD2 for a cuddle and ventured out in the garden!

She has been back upstairs this afternoon but I think we can safely say she was just being a tantrumming diva over the snow.. which has rained away today!

CATS!!!!

I'm glad that she has come out of hiding now. I did wonder if she had picked up on the stress of Portia being ill and other family stress going on (it's Sue btw).

They are a nightmare aren't they. Mine likes to pretend he's at deaths door until I book a vet appt, then he scampers about like a kitten and eats 2 pouches of food. Dickhead.

Love him though.

Today she has resumed her normal... in-out-in-out and demanding worship... here she is in the garden. How can a cat with that coat hate snow!??

Obie has popped home and is currently snoring on the sofa :)

My girl hated the snow last year. She put one foot in it and then refused to go out for 3 days.

Ophie looks liek she won't take no shit from no one. Look at that stare! Is Obie scared of her? He often looks like a worried boy although that's probably because he never knows if he's going for the shave or not.

They are litter mates yes... and were friends until he got stuck in a neighbour's house for 5 days after he snook in when she went on holiday! Ever since then she has hated him, hisses at him and is a real meany. He is scared of her, which is a shame as he is lovely and a real softy.
She takes no shit from anyone... she is actually a very affectionate girl a real drop and roll cat, but she demands her blankie be perfectly smoothed for her and woe betide you leave a guitar on HER sofa.... Grin
