Seriously though, what is wrong with this cat?

She's a tad uppity/high strung and her first reaction to any slight is to shit on the floor right next to the litter trays. They're 7 so I've had 7 years of it, tried everything to stop it but every day there it is.

Not getting attention is the big one, like if I don't wake up at 3am to fuss her she'll go lay one and shout about it...

So far we've:
Added extra trays
Had less trays
Covers trays
Cleaned/bleached trays
Scooped but not cleaned trays
Feliway
Rewards
Telling off
Plastic mat with bumps where she poops
Training sprays
Putting her in the tray
Moving the trays

She's just had a lovely fuss but the other cat entered the room so the offender stomped off and crapped 😡

Any suggestions cat lovers of MN?

No idea what the cause is. But at least it's much easier to deal with than piss (assuming it's not on carpet). You could always put the trays on newspaper to make life easier.

I always know when I've transgressed in some way as one of mine will shit somewhere. I am surprised he hadn't done so yesterday after 2 blood tests at the vet.

codenameduchess · 29/01/2019 10:57

@scaryteacher it's not just mine then! Blood tests would almost certainly end in a protest shit with her... the last check up resulted in an immediate crap then we didn't see her for 3 days (which is impressive for a house cat 😂)

@thecatneuterer true, we've only had a handful of wee accidents where she's not quite got her bum in the tray. When I put a plastic mat down she managed to lift it to shit under it 🤦‍♀️

@codenameduchess It can be anything from not feeding him as he needed to be starved before his bloods, to having put him in the cattery, to not having cuddled him for long enough. He must be feeling ill, as he hasn't yet done a protest dump after the vet.

brownmare · 01/02/2019 08:41

I'm sure you've tried, but different litters? I've had cats that won't use a particular type and I know someone with cats who has a litter tray with professional classic and one with World's best which seems to keep everyone happy.

codenameduchess · 01/02/2019 08:43

@brownmare yeah we've tried loads, she prefers the Morrison's clumping cat litter to anything else.

@scaryteacher did your furry one retaliate?

No, he didn't. He's not very well at present...waiting on more blood results from the vet.

brownmare · 01/02/2019 11:24

oh heck, sounds like you've tried most things. I wonder if it might be because she's having to share with another cat and not happy about it, but other than just having a single cat (which seems an extreme solution that I couldn't do) I don't know what else to suggest Confused and Flowers to you for putting up with it for so long, and hope scaryteacher's cat is soon well.

Thanks Brownmare, I think I need to resurrect my thread about CKD for advice.
