There were sightings of "her" recently and then today in the area she'd allegedly been seen, we seen a cat who for the average non cat person, could easy be mistaken for her.....Buut i walked past a known cat thief the other day and we havent managed to knock her door while shes been in but she looked at me as if she knew me and the only way she'd know me is if she seen my missing cat posts on facebook and her face looked suspicious, scared and guilty... and the other cat that looked like her came running over to us but someone else who thinks they seen her said they tried to talk to her and she didnt move which sounds more like her and this other cat came running over with very little encouragement....my brain isn't really functioning well at the moment because most humans cant tell 2 cats apart cos last week we had a false alarm but this girl found a cat she thought was mine and it looked nothing like her!! and this girl says shes a cat lady but the only way they were alike was from the back and from a distance. there was a pic of said cat and it looked a bit like her and fair enough if it was a quick snap of the cat and she never seen its face but she did see its face and it had a black nose while mine has a pink nose and mines is a maine coon so shes huge and this was a f#cking kitten!!!! people are stupid and i needed a vent because im slowly losing my will and i dont know what to do and if anyone has any 4 month plus reunion stories id love to hear them

Oh I’m so sorry ! It can be heart breaking to have a missing cat.

I have a reunion story though - my cat was missing for nearly a whole year - thought he was dead had been run over or something but then one day he just sauntered in through the cat flap - fat as anything with a shiny new collar!

Had obviously shacked up with someone else for a bit then had had enough of them and come home !

They are funny things - as they always say you don’t choose your cat they choose you!

Hopefully your girl comes home soon xx

I'm so sorry. I know how awful it is. Here's a hopeful story: A cat from the next road to me (East London) went missing in august. The owners have put up more posters and delivered more leaflets than I have ever seen before. Their publicity campaign was relentless and continued for months. They got a call on Christmas Day to say the cat had been found in Manchester. Facebook story here: www.facebook.com/celiahammondanimaltrust/posts/2267728596571320

Before the days of micro chip our dcat went missing for 6 months. Found her sat under a tree at the local shops!! After knocking on a few doors I was told she had been eating birds and scraps and slept in a shed! Nobody answered my ads for some weird reason.

One of mine went for 1year and was reunited through the microchip.

a few updates: We managed to get the known cat thief to finally answer her door and really didn't know what to make of her. Her door was wide open when she was speaking to us ie not trying to keep a cat in and she said she gets cats in her garden alot but she hasn't seen mine. It was definitely her that i seen that day and she did look at me funny and if she's been confronted about cats before(she has) she'll be good at keeping her cool, if she doesn't have her now, it wouldn't surprise me if she had or tried to get her before. Also that cat look a like was a bit of a punch in the guts until we went to a woman who said she'd seen her a while ago and we showed her both cats and she said it was much more like ours than the other one. I haven't said this in many of my rants on here before but my girl is actually a Maine Coon so she's bigger than your average cat and the woman we spoke to has coonies and said "i know a maine coon when i see one". Out of 8 potential sightings across the months, 1 was definite (she thinks) 3 sound likely (judging from described behaviour , appearance and size, while as 4 could've been the other cat. I'll attach a side by side pic to show the similarities.

Not related to Harley but it never rains but it pours! Took one of my other cats to the vets today for an upset gut, he'd never been to our vets before since we got him in 2013 he never needed to. Turns out he has a bit dental disease and a grade 3 heart murmur! He's bounced back from his original vet trip ailment and he's completely back to normal! He's never showed any signs of anything other than being a bit of a sickly cat which his previous owners told us about anyway, mainly furballs and such. Thank God for insurance! Also in Harleys absence things at home haven't been normal which has caused a wee bit of a flea problem with the remaining 5. Original culprit being Harley's brother since he's the hunter, mouse + fleas etc. Just our luck. (Fleas are getting treated though, everyones fine, just a bit itchy)

There are lots of stories of cats turning up after months or even years of being missing. Have you tried animalsearchuk? They do professional quality posters and even send search teams out to investigate. They have a good track record of recovering pets. If yours is microchipped it is the best chance of them being returned.
I hope you get positive news soon.

So sorry about Harley. There are so many instances of cats just coming home after time away. Some just go off to someone else’s house. It’s just not knowing that must be the worst. Our old cat was missing for a week once. Turns out a neighbour thought she was stray and took her to a shelter (this was the days before microchips).
