Possible cat allergy

So dkitty is 15. Has always sooked into, slept with and gravitated towards ds1. Ds2 is 8, and autistic (relevant in that he doesn't have a natural affinity towards animals and tolerates the cats and dogs in the house but no interaction.). Since ds1 moved out dkitty has began to sleep in ds2 bed near the top, and ds2 has quite enjoyed it and will pet dkitty. Ds2 face has broken out in a horrid rash. Is it possible for this to be a cat allergy that has only become noticeable since ds2 has started to come into close contact with dkitty? We have had cats and dogs since ds was born so this is not a new cat into the house.

Have you checked dkitty for fleas? Fleas can cause that sort of rash.

I have an intermittent allergic reaction to cats. It depends how much interaction I have had with them, how much they are molting, how ‘allergic’ I am at that moment, and how I interact with them. So it is a possibility. My reaction is sometimes skin, sometimes eyes, sometimes breathing, but never really severe. I just take antihistamines and this usually helps. Strangely if I have frequent, regular contact the reactions do usually get better with occasional ‘outbreaks ‘ however when I lived away from any pet when I next meet them the reaction is worse!

Update, think the cat is in the clear. It has worsened over last night and today. I'm now thinking it's impetigo as his nose is now all blistery/crusty. Have popped some neosporin on it and will take him to docs tomorrow.
