Elderly cat - could this be a stroke?

Elderly cat approx 16 yrs old still active and likes to go outside, eats and drinks , no obvious signs of illness. I've just let him in at the back door and he wouldn't come in just sat there making a low growling noise. I lifted him in and put him on the floor and he seemed unable to walk properly and turn head. After a few minutes he crawled on his belly and occasionally carried on miaowing. His eyes looked all big . After about 10 minutes he seemed to come to a bit and took himself off to his bowl ate his biscuits and then crawled into his basket . All quiet now seemed to be breathing normally . Could this have been a mini stroke or something ? We live out in country so not near roads so hasn't been hit by a car .

It certainly could be. Have you seen a vet now?

Took him to vet Monday morning . Checked him over , doesn't think there's anything untoward. Just advised to keep eye on him keep him hydrated etc. Cat looks normal now perhaps a bit quiet but eating normally etc. Strange ...

Our elderly cat did something very similar when he had a water infection.

Our cat did something bit similar, she's 14, collapsed and back legs shaking then got up and OK, also eyesight going. Vet found heart murmur and suspects small blood clots, having ecg done. Hope you find a solution. Vet told us to video on phone if you're ever quick enough to catch it.
