And my cat isn’t happy. He’s an outdoorsy cat usually just comes in for food and a quick cuddle and thats it. I moved on Tuesday and he hasn’t stopped crying and trying to get out since, he’s spending all day and night crying and scratching at the windows and doors 🙁 what can I do to help him? Tia

Try some feliway...a plug in...hopefully he’ll settle in a few days. Also stroke him with a cloth then rub the cloth on the skirting boards etc to spread his scent

Thanks bionic, hopefully the plugin might help me chill too 😁 been taking him all about the house trying to spread his scent but he just wants to be outside hunting for mice!

Would he tolerate a harness so you could take him out on that. The first time they wear one they walk backwards (get your video ready) but with some persistence you might be able to let him come out for a walk in the garden with you.

And there’s the ‘butter on his paws’ suggestion for the first few times he does venture out...so he can smell his path back, after giving his feet a good old lick!
Could you tire him out too...our boy used to love a duster feather (or squishy ball tied tight) on a piece of string...me running round the house...dragging it slowly...almost out of sight behind chair legs or the door...then pulling it quickly or a slow scratch noise behind the furniture...so it sounds like a mouse...they move slowly until they see a cat! Our boy will play for hours like that. He hates being kept in too

Omg no he wouldn’t tolerate a harness. I practically got clawed to death getting him into the cat basket! He won’t play! He doesn’t like people he’s not exactly feral but when I first got him we lived on a small holding which he loved. But circumstances have changed and now I’m in town living! Head says find a stables for him to go to but my heart wants him to stay with me 🙁 meantime he’s just yowling his head off and hissing at me. He’s not impressed.
