How old is my cat?

My rescue cat has been tolerating me for six years. She was apparently about a year old when she decided I'd do as a slave.

I was looking back at pictures from when she first arrived and I think she was quite a bit younger than a year. She's my PFCat so I have no comparisons.

She looks about 5/6 months in those pictures to me.

Does it matter or are you just curious?

Just curiousity, prompted by a kittens thread yesterday. It would also help me make sense of some of her behaviour (inasmuch as you can when it comes to cats).

Yeah, but she's a Tortie, so any behaviour can be attributed to them!

She does look quite young in those pictures. I've found that at about 8-9 months regular moggies start looking like adult cats. (Your mileage may vary).

I didn't know about their, er, reputation until a friend called round a couple of days after arrival, said "Oh God no, you've got one of those cats" and took several steps backwards.

Did she grow a lot since you first got her? Most seem to have their final growth spurt a bit over a year old. But one of mine is small and still looks like a kitten really at 16 months! (She weighs about 2.6kg!)

I think she could be anywhere between 7 - 12 months in those photos really, it's hard to tell.

She was quite underweight when she came amd had been badly treated so i ccouldn't weigh or measure her. As an adult she's 3.5 kg, I'd guess she probably noticeably starting growing about three months after I got her, came into season about the same time.

I'd say If she's a particularly small cat, then yes she could be about 10-12 months in the first pic.
Having said that, my cats (healthy appetites) were that size about 7 months!!
