My boy is being pts tomorrow

My eldest cat is going to be pts tomorrow. The vet and a nurse are coming to the house. He's really declining and is losing so much weight. I've been doing his painkilling injections and he's had anti sickness meds.

I'm sleeping in the lounge on the futon to keep him company and make sure the fire is kept going. I'm gutted. He's a rescue cat and is so lovely. He never bites or scratches and he loved sunbathing in the garden each summer.

One of my girls knows he's very sick and tries to hit him.

Sorry to hear this. That is lovely that you are keeping him company tonight. It is so tough when it gets to this stage I remember it well with mine. Take care of yourself.

TheSpottedZebra · 10/12/2018 21:28

So sorry for you. I spent my cat's last night with him like that too, and it was very sad, but I am glad I was there.

itscliffmas · 10/12/2018 21:31

Op, ❤️ hand hold

ImNotKitten · 10/12/2018 21:35

So sorry to hear that. You’re doing the kindest thing by letting him go at home. Flowers

Harebellmeadow · 10/12/2018 21:40

Stay by him, till the very end, you won't regret it and it will be the last sweet memory of your love and friendship. So sorry he has to leave you but you are so brave 💐 💐

citiesofbismuth · 10/12/2018 21:58

Travel well, sweet William.

cities have you an easy day tomorrow, or something nice to look forward to?

citiesofbismuth · 10/12/2018 22:11

I just work part time nights and I'm off until Friday, so I don't have to worry about work. Ds1 is home from uni so he might stay with William as well whilst the vet is here. Dh is really quite upset, but trying to hide it.

Bird videos!

My cat used to like the snooker.

MrsCatE · 11/12/2018 02:41

Oh, sweetheart. You obviously love him very much, he's beautiful. Don't let him watch Dynasties 'Lion' or 'Tiger'! He looks really content in front of the fire and safe, knowing you're there. Handhold for today Flowers x

Bath9000 · 11/12/2018 12:32

Hope you’re ok OP, thinking of you Flowers

AndSheWas85 · 11/12/2018 12:44

Thanks Such a difficult and emotional time I know, but it's sounds like you gave the lovely gentle William a very happy and contented life, he was lucky to be rescued by such a caring family with him till the end, making sure his passing on is as peaceful as possible. You will have thoughts and tears of sadness for a while but in time you will remember all the happiness William brought X ((hugs))

OrdinaryGirl · 11/12/2018 13:04

Thinking of you today, OP. 💐

citiesofbismuth · 11/12/2018 14:03

He's gone. It was really peaceful. Thanks for the well wishes, this was a very hard decision as his illness came on quite suddenly a few weeks ago.

Poor William and poor you.
At least you could do this last kindness for him - even though it's awful for you.

DCat · 11/12/2018 22:18

So sorry.Flowers But William was very very lucky
