Tell me my cat will eventually accept my new kittens!

Just that really! New adoptees doing well, been with us 9 days - first 3 days no contact with resident cat, lots of scent swapping, then next day eating each side of closed door, day after eating with door cracked open, following day everyone met! Since then resident cat is not outright aggressive , just hissing when she sees them. She has lots of places to go in the house, and goes outside ( they are still inside post spay). It's not terrible but they are so sweet and had a tough start in life and I want everyone to be friends!!!! Tell me some stories of hope please!!!

I have had my second cat for 15 months and then older cat, who was 11 when we had the kitten , still hisses and now the kitten is bigger than her the kitten chases her. She gives as good as she gets but they will never be friendly.

That's absolutely normal, the older cat is asserting her place and establishing the new hierarchy. 9 days is super early days as well.

Of course they may never be friends but they should learn to tolerate each other well enough unless your resident cat totally hates other cats.

I know, I'm being impatient! It's a big change for her. I'm sitting with the old lady now upstairs away from the kittens so she knows I still love her! I will try and remember that it is still early days Grin

In a previous generation of cats when I introduced new kittens one of the incumbents was fine almost immediately the other one took 3 months to relax.
I've introduced kittens again this year. Again one of my incumbents was fine quickly, my other cat hated the kittens and has taken 5 months to relax.
It just takes time.

Thanks all. At times they seem to be co-existing fairly well, but then this morning the big girl really swiped at the smallest kitten, who was just sitting there! The kittens aren't bothering her at all, they just get on with their own thing! The flashpoints are when big cat wants to get past the little ones and has to go within a foot of them. Then there's a standoff and she ends up reacting if they try to move first!
