Stupid question about vets

Really stupid question but when we got our cat we used the vets that she was already registered with from cats protection and have only had to take her once for her second jabs (she is only 9 months).

I’ve noticed in the past hour that she is limping, trying not to use her front paw. I think DS might have accidentally stepped on her earlier.

I plan on calling the vets tomorrow but it’s quite far away so want to change to a closer one. Do I just call a closer one and ask to register? Do I have to let the old one know? I realise I could just call them but I like to be prepared before making phone calls (I hate them!)

Yes, you can switch vet practice at any time.

They'll ask you how old your cat is, and about any jabs / medical history. I had to do this because of distance, too - it was very straightforward.

Hope your cat is all right.

Thank you, sounds simple enough.

Hopefully she will be ok again in the morning.

Yes just call whichever vets you wish to register with. Take her vaccination record and the medical homing summary form (or something similar namewise) if you can locate it.
They will likely weigh her and give her a general once over as a new patient. Hope paw is ok. Even if all is ok tomorrow still call to register her then you know it's sorted for the future.

Yes it's fine and you don't have to let the old ones know, just tell the new one where she went before and they will be able to request for her medical history to be sent over.
