How would you do this moving conundrum?

We are moving to the other end of the country in a couple of months, and it’s looking likely that there is a going to be a gap of about 1-2 weeks between us selling our current place and buying our new house. Us humans will be fine as we can just crash at the ils. However I’m not sure what to do with our 2 cats.

Option 1 would be to put them in a cattery near us (which we’ve used once before but several years ago as we normally have cat sitters when we go away) and then drive them to our new house when it’s ready.

Option 2 would be to drive them to a cattery near the new house and then collect them once the house is ready.

I’m leaning towards option 2 but I’d like to hear from people who are a bit more knowledgable about this.

I did 2 when I moved - there was only a day between leaving my old house and getting the keys to the new one, but I bought the cats over a couple of days beforehand so they were out of they way whilst the removers were packing, then picked them up a couple of days after I moved in to give me time to get a bit sorted.
