steppecat keeps stealing my hot water bottle.

I hardly ever use it, haven't used it for months, got it out the other night and settled down to sleep with feet snug and warm.

Steppecat comes into our bedroom. Jumps to his usual place on his blanket on the chest of drawers. I hear him pause, think and then turn round and jump on to the bed. Stomps over (not light on his feet, obviously closely related to an elephant)
Gets to hot water bottle and curls up, pushing my feet off.

8 hours later still there, hasn't moved, hot water bottle is still hot due to all the insulation!

Now he rarely sleeps on the bed these days, since we got the dog, even though dog isn't allowed in the bedroom.

Next night, full hottie, curled up to sleep, he comes in and makes straight for the hot spot. Stays all night.

Last night, no hottie, didn't even bother getting on the bed.

HOW DOES HE KNOW? Do hot water bottles give off a weird smell???

How do they know when they have a vet's appointment, even before you have got the carrier out?

They just do

I might try and trick him tonight.

Hot water bottle, but in different place - will he still come?

(quite like having him sleep on my bed again actually, even though I can't stretch my legs out properly, I have missed him)

You are deluded op.
It was never YOUR hwb in the first place.

Toddlerteaplease · 26/11/2018 14:29

Or your bed!

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 26/11/2018 14:30

They do smell slightly, of hot rubber.

Ours just likes to take over DS1’s bed. Poor lad was curled up in the foetal position with a hanky sized bit of duvet because he didn’t want to disturb her!

Try a cold hwb.

I bought an extra one for the cat to go in his bed at night. Now he has two and I have none.

Grin Grin

Bet he could tell the difference between a hot one and cold one and won't even come and look.

He must be getting old, this afternoon I was on the computer and he was fussing, so i picked him up and he lay in my arms purring and cuddling (and dribbling) for about 20 minutes. Unheard of. I nearly videoed him as I knew none of the family would believe me.
Dog went nuts going round and round my chair DESPERATE for some attention. The cat would normally go on high alert when the dog is around, but you could just see him thinking
My human, F* off dog, you lost. Not even a break in the purr.
