Best dry food

My girl was on Applaws for both wet and dry food.
I just went to re order the dry food to see lots of reviews from people saying it has changed and now makes their cat ill.

Does anyone have any recommendations for dry food?

Mine like Encore. I buy it from asda. It's 80% meat. Thrive is good too but have to order it from Amazon

VisitorsEntrance · 26/11/2018 12:57

Encore is Applaws. Exactly the same product, different packaging.

Even the dry? I thought Encore dry was cheaper than applaws. Doesn't make my cats sick anyway

dementedpixie · 26/11/2018 13:08

They are made by the same company but that doesn't mean they are the same

VisitorsEntrance · 26/11/2018 17:39

I have spoken to applaws about it in the past. They told me they are the same.

Think encore only comes in 1 size of bag too. I'll stick with it though as the cats like

dementedpixie · 26/11/2018 17:40

It

I use Thrive or Lily's Kitchen. I normally order online from Zooplus.

YeOldeTrout · 26/11/2018 20:40

Mine didn't like Applaws any more, so I switched to Purizon (they like some flavours better than other, but mostly good).

AnnaMagnani · 26/11/2018 20:55

I like Sanabelle as a low cost grain-free option from Zooplus.

The senior version has also done my old lady the world of good - she was losing condition and since starting it she is back to her normal weight and able to jump up on furniture again.

dementedpixie · 26/11/2018 20:59

Sanabelle doesn't seen to have much meat in it. Although it says grain free some varieties seem to have rice instead. Zooplus seems to have stopped selling thrive dry and I was getting it from Amazon (It jumped in price though so I went to encore instead)

Lily's Kitchen popular with mine; seems good quality.

Dongdingdong · 27/11/2018 22:08

Oh dear - my cat eats Applaws dry! Is it not a good idea anymore? Would be grateful if someone could respond as I’m a bit concerned...

VisitorsEntrance · 27/11/2018 22:36

I’m only going by the recent reviews on Zooplus.

Some of the reviews are from last year. Surely it's only an issue if your cat is affected

VisitorsEntrance · 27/11/2018 22:47

Well this is true. But it was worrying.

Why do you feed dry? Just wondering as I feed my two a combination of wet and dry. I feed Feringa or carny as the meat content is really high. I also sue Feringa or Lily's kitchen biscuits.

Magissa · 27/11/2018 23:52

Combination of Arden Grange grain free dry and Lily's Kitchen wet. They all seem happy.

YeOldeTrout · 28/11/2018 05:56

dRy for variety, I guess. It keeps a little better than wet.
