Hi, my 2 male kittens are being neutered in the morning and I don't remember being told to starve them. Obviously can't ring the vets now..
.does anyone know if I need to pick their food up?

My vet says 8pm but I just take the food up when I go to bed. Humans only have to fast for 6 hours so I do r see why cats have to fast for any longer!

No food from 8pm the night before and take water away in the morning.

Yes. I always do it closer to midnight though as none of the vet's I use for my cats or foster cats do operations until after morning surgery anyway so nearer to 12 noon.

I dropped my kitten in for the surgery at 8am and the vet did the op early so they could monitor her and get her home by mid afternoon.

So she was nil by month from 8pm the night before

Depends how old they are very young cats are not starved overnight any more to prevent falls in blood glucose.

Thanks all. They are 6 months old. Picked up their food last night before bed. Then one of them climbed up this morning and licked all the butter off of my DD's breakfast . Safely at the vets now (after chasing them around the house to get them in the basket)
