Changing food after neutering?

Hi everyone

I had my 5 month old boy castrated today ( the ketamine sent him wild and he now has a scratched eye to boot requiring a follow up - sigh).

Anyway the vet has recommended he moves off kitten food to a neutered male food. He is a very skinny Siamese but is a greedy boy. I am just wondering as it seems a bit early to move him from kitten food? Also presumably most adult cats are neutered and presumably just eat adult cat food?

Just wondering what others do?

Mine moved to adult food closer to 8/9 months after being neutered at 4 months. I didn't give food for sterilised cats, just bog standard grain free adult food
