Help! Cat won't leave furniture alone!

Please can anyone tell me how to get my cat to stop clawing at furniture like sofas, divan bases etc. The only thing he doesn't claw is wooden furniture.

If I try to shut him out the room he just scratches at the carpet and door to get in.

Tried the spray but it's not doing anything. Losing the will to live with my DCat 😫

Have you got other scratching posts/ barrels, etc.. Do you play with the cat? Is it an indoor or outdoor cat?

Get a scratching post and spray it with catnip. My cat used to go mad for it and scratch the post. He didn’t scratch the furniture so much

Yes he's got scratching posts which I've sprayed with cat nip and he's not interested. He's outdoor. It's mainly during the night he does it when I'm asleep so wakes me up

I have a scratching post and wavy scratcher plus the cat tree has legs which can be used as a scratching post too. One of mine uses them but the other isn't interested

Could you try a stiff bristle door mat? If there is a spot he regularly scratches the carpet in you could place it there, or near the door of the bed maybe? I've had a few cats that like them, could be a different texture/shape is preferable to the standard cat post.

Thank you will try the door mat.

Oh I forgot about that. We had a stiff doormat too. Spray that with cat nip too
