RSPCA home visit

hi, we went at the weekend and found 2 gorgeous kittens, we're hoping to collect them on saturday. we have a home visit on saturday am and I've just been told by a friend of mine that her friend was turned down last week for living further away from the main road than I do. We live about 100m from the main road which is a 30mph limit. we had 2 cats that both of whom lived at our home for 18 years! I'm worried the rspca will turn us down and the kids be heartbroken. do i call the home checker and ask but then that will alert them to living near a main road or not?

I obviously can't specifically comment about your local RSPCA branch but for most charities it's not about distance as much as it's about access. If you're in a terraced house with a network of gardens at the back, and only let your cats out from the back of the house, then it's probably ok. Gardens that have direct access to the street are more of an issue. Kittens obviously are not streetwise the way many older cats are.

If they're anything like the charity I volunteer for they're going to look it up on a map anyway to get a sense of the roads and access to them.

Ok thanks, our back garden backs onto a v small cul de sac and then fields. The main road is adjacent 7 houses up from me. I’m not intending on letting them out at night anyway as that’s what we used to do with our previous cats.
