We have a female cat and there are 6 different neighbourhood cats who wander through our garden throughout the day. All lovely and apart from a few minor scraps, all the cats seemed to tolerate each other.
Unfortunately our cat was missing (escaped from a cattery) during the summer so was away from the garden for almost 5 weeks. Since she's been home she seems to have lost her territory and 4 of the other cats are now chasing her when they come into the garden. One tom cat is being very aggressive and I have to supervise all her trips outside as he has hurt her quite badly a couple of times. The other cats are still ok around each other and don't fight.
She was very confident before she went missing and held her own in the garden but is now really nervous and I wonder if they sense this.
Does anyone have any advice on how I can stop the other cats attacking her? Would sprinkling her used cat litter around the garden mark it as her territory and keep other cats away or would the scent of it draw them in?
