We seem to have been found by a Cat.
Actually she found our neighbours first and started hanging around in their garden so they fed her the odd tin of tuna . Their young son is a bit roughwith her though so she crossed through to my garden ( we have a gap between fences ) and played with my children a bit .
I could tell she seemed hungry one morning and think the neighbours may not have fed her that morning so I put a can of tuna out and she ate the lot.
She then regularly appeared at our steps for food so I fed her .over the last ten days I’ve been feeding her twice a day and she’s come in the house and slept in a blanket we folded on the floor as well
As on our soft chairs .
I think she’s a kitten as she seems quite playful but also so sweet and helpless .

I don’t know what to do as she’s got no collar and we have no st box to take her to the vet to see if she’s microchipped .

I know literally nothing about cats but my kids are dying to keep her.
She’s ever so sweet and loving but I’m also scared of taking on too much and not being able to manage ( I have a lot going on in my personal life right now ) and don’t want to let down an animal

When someone's beloved pet is missing they usually tell everyone! At least in my twon. There are posters everywhere and posts on FB groups when a pet goes missing. If you belong to your local FB group you could check. Or get a box and take her to the vet to check.

*twon? Town lol.
Also, tuna isn't good for cats. They can have it as a treat every now and then but longterm it can cause problems.

Get in touch with a lock rescue like Cat Protection. They may well be able to come round and scan for a chip, help you with paper collar and advertise on their Facebook etc. For young cats and kittens we generally advertise with a vague description and ask anyone who thinks it might be their cat to supply a picture.

Local not lock. Autocorrect is out of control.

Good on you for having the sense not to give her to just anyone btw :) She's lucky she found you!

Any cat owners phone is full of cat photos. Full of them. 300 cat photos and one of a four year old in a new school uniform by a door.

Have just LOL'd at this in the middle of a packed bus because it's SO true!

And I completely agree with 'if in doubt, feed'. We've had 2 cats just vanish and it completely breaks my heart that they may be somewhere starving with everyone ignoring them

OP - I haven't RTWholeFT but if you look up 'your town cats missing and found' on FB you'll more than likely find a group with someone on there that will lend you a basket or come to your house with a scanner.
