Just needed to share this to give a little bit of hope to anyone who has got a missing cat.
My gorgeous boy cat went missing over a year ago. We tried everything to find him but had given up hope to be honest.
Someone posted his photo on Facebook earlier this afternoon. He is home again!
He had been living at the scrap yard about 10 minutes away from us. He was surviving on a diet of rats and ham and sleeping in scrapped cars.
He is unbelievably dirty and smells awful but he is home with us again.
I can't quite believe it but just wanted to share with people who will understand why I'm so happy.

Oh that’s so lovely. I’m really happy for you and your boy. Love a happy ending.
Does he seem to remember you and home?

GRW · 08/11/2018 18:39

That's amazing news. I hope he will stay close to home from now on.

Oh my goodness what fabulous news Smile
Welcome home gorgeous boy! You'll need to keep him in for a few weeks years now.

darumafan · 08/11/2018 19:26

He seems to remember us, he was miaowing at us when we arrived at the scrap yard.
He has had some food, drank loads of water and used the litter tray.
He has also had a bath which he was very good in. He cried a lot but didn't fight us at all.
My real worry is his brothers, they seemed very calm and settled around in to begin with but aren't so happy now.
The fireworks are frightening one of them so that might be the problem rather than his brother. I'm not sure what to do to help resettle him and his brothers.
Any suggestions?

Maybe keep them apart at first, like when you get a new cat, and build up contact?

MrsPawsitive · 09/11/2018 00:10

That's wonderful! He must be so delighted to be home. Talk to his brothers and explain the situation. You'd be amazed at how much cats understand! Smile

VimFuego101 · 09/11/2018 00:18

Maybe try a feliway plugin to calm them all down? Glad he's home

Singlenotsingle · 09/11/2018 00:23

You need a word in his ear. Totally U to go missing for a whole year! What explanation did he give?

darumafan · 09/11/2018 07:36

Unfortunately, he is remaining totally silent on where and why he went.
We have explained to his brothers that he is a very silly boy and that they are not to try and copy him!
We are giving the two who didn't disappear lots of extra cuddles and treats, the hissing seems to have calmed down this morning. They just keep looking at him as if to say 'where have you been '
I'm going to book the wanderer in at the vets today, he had a bath last night and he has been wormed this morning.
I still can't quite believe that he was.sitting there this morning 😁

Out tortie went for 6 months, found very local, she did it now and again so be prepared your little buggar might too!! Familiarity maybe? Change of scene? New cats on the block round there? At least you know where to look now!!
And remember no tech for him for a long while!!
It's the only way these days!!
