Does my cat think bronze cat is real?

Last month my DH gave me a bronze cat as a birthday present. It is approximately the same size as our real live cat who doesn't seem to like it at all, regarding it with great suspicion and generally staying away from it. Twice he has brought something he has killed into the house and left it right next to the bronze cat. Is he trying to say to the bronze cat, "Look I'm a much better hunter than you!" or is he trying to implicate the bronze cat as the culprit? As it doesn't smell like a live animal and never moves, how can he not realise it isn't alive?

It's an ancestral memory from Egyptian times. He thinks the bronze cat is a goddess and is leaving it 'tributes'.

Maybe he's leaving offerings to what he thinks is Bast, the cat god of ancient Egypt? Probably in return for more Dreamies.

Cats aren't clever at all - they're dumb as rocks, just sneaky and quick which sometimes makes them seem clever. Speaking as someone who's had over a dozen over my life, currently three.

I did read a theory that cats bring in mice for their humans because they think humans are very poor at catching mice and are trying to show them how it's done. So he might think your bronze cat is an exceptionally indolent feline, and be trying to gee it up.

DS got a stuffed ginger cat for his birthday. The first time our (real) cat saw it, he did a double take, fell over, crawled over to the stuffed cat. After giving it a good sniff, he picked it up by the scruff of its neck and carried it behind the sofa. Then when it still didn’t move, he tried to beat it up. So if yours is anything like mine then yes, he probably thinks it’s a very snooty, shiny, real life cat

Our ndn has a black cat cut out propped up against a wall to put our cat off going in the garden.

The only person it fools is me every time I pass the landing window “ooh there’s a cat in next doors garden” 🤦🏻‍♀️

We took Matt to a holiday house once where they had a stone Buddha type thing on the floor, about his size. He regarded it with great suspicion throughout the holiday.

A couple of tears ago Sainsbury's were selling black cat soft toys for Halloween. Someone at work had one so I rushed out to get two. They were the spitting image of Fatty and Snorg, it was uncanny! They only had one left though.

Mine goes through various names including, 'the fuzzy savant', she can be incredibly clever and incredibly dum.

She will wail to be let in the window when the door next to the window is open and she went out through it 10 mins earlier.

We used to have a tea cosy in the shape of a cat. Unfortunately we had to get rid of it because it terrified our dopey ginger cat. He was never very keen on anything which looked at him.

My normally sensible cat went mental when I was given slippers that looked like kittens.
