Does anyone else find themselves edged off the sofa?

Just that - I start properly seated and the space invader gradually spreads out til I suddenly realise I’ve only got half a cheek left on the sofa while she’s stretched out over my patch! She’s so subtle too, I never notice her in the act, cunning little minx Grin

Look at that heart shaped white fur by her back legs!
Not the sofa as much as the bed, where I often find myself on the edge while Matt luxuriously stretches out.
Why do cats sleep horizontally on beds? Is it just to take up maximum space?!

fuzzywuzzy · 24/10/2018 08:49

Ours do this too, it’s getting worse as they have now commandeered the bed, three cats and a toddler and both DP and I have to cling on for dear life to the edge.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 24/10/2018 09:51

Just that - I start sneakily seated in her space and she has to resort to gradually spreading out til I finally budge out of her way.

I fixed some of your post for you.

Lovely tummy by the way (hers, not yours) - what happens when you blow raspberries on it?

GrumpyOldMare · 24/10/2018 09:57

If I do,the cat gets shoved off pretty quickly! There are two other chairs if she needs comfort.

Vinorosso74 · 24/10/2018 10:17

Not the sofa but the bed. He joins us during the night starting off curled up by my feet then he gradually stretches out often horizontally so we get moved across the bed.

I get hemmed in rather than edged off! As soon as the DC go to bed & I sit down all 3 cats surround me - I've learnt to get a cup of tea & the tv remote before sitting down now!

YetAnotherSpartacus · 24/10/2018 10:46

I once got up to get the remote (as you do, up reach out, grab - all in a few seconds) and sat down again, hard, on a cat who had moved into the warm spot ...

Oldraver · 24/10/2018 11:10

Not so much the sofa...I tend to 'lie' with my legs over OH's lap (so he can rub my knees) and the cat will go and plonk himself next to OH and use my feet as a pillow.

He prefers to comandeer my bed...always settles between my legs..the other night he was feeling with paw where they are,

I end up havign to get out the bed and get in the other side

KarlDilkington · 24/10/2018 11:29

I think you've stolen my cat!

Dh gets edged off the bed, the cat lies up against me/near me and subtly pushes dh away.

Sparklfairy · 24/10/2018 12:57

So like manspreading, is this catspreading?

chemenger · 24/10/2018 18:40

One of my fellow fosterers has this problem, sevenfold. It’s a hard life in CP.

Oh my those kittens!

chemenger · 25/10/2018 02:36

They are so cute, but quite a handful, I believe!

Oldraver · 26/10/2018 10:42

This came up on my TimeHop.. one of my fave pics of my old girl

She used to sit on my tummy when pregnant and DS would kick when she purrred, which would disconcert her

Ah beautiful pic Oldraver

My girl is hiding in a cupboard atm because she’s scared of the rampaging kids so I have the sofa to myself Smile but I’m glad to hear others have little space invading fur balls too. I know I could shove her over but she knows that I know that she’s really the one in charge

Well Ern will have the bed all to himself as we are away for a while

He may forgive us

Toddlerteaplease · 26/10/2018 21:30

Cheddar has taken ownership of a shoebox. I think it will have to stay on the sofa along with Fatty's cushion that she won't touch.

Good grief don’t you realise that a cat needs a sofa to itself!

Toddlerteaplease · 26/10/2018 22:00

Oo good point!

Papergirl1968 · 26/10/2018 23:44

Matt has taken over the sofa and the cushions...
