I haven't had a pet in almost 4 years. I recently agreed to take on a cat of friend of a friend for a short time. Thing is now she is coming I am panicking.

Have you got any tips?

You'll be fine, lots of cuddles, some toys - or just long pieces of string etc x
Cat tray and cat litter also x

How long will the cat be with you? And do you live in a flat or do you have outside space?

Either way it is best to start with the cat in one room only to give him time to settle into a new environment without being overwhelmed. You can then see how confident or shy he seems. You will need to be very careful with doors and windows to prevent escapes - even if the plan is to let the cat out eventually, he needs to stay indoors a good 4-8 weeks depending on his personality to start understanding it as home. I cannot stress this point enough, I hear of so many cats escaping from a window when they are being looked after by friends in a new area.

As it is your friend's cat, hopefully you will get lots of tips and find out everything about the cat's habits and preferences for food, litter, etc.

I am not sure how long she will be here for. I have asked about food and litter tray.

I live in a ground floor flat with no outside space. I always keep windows closed and doors mostly .
