Look at your cat to confirm?

laceygo · 20/10/2018 18:28

Treat them ?

Dadsbigsausages · 20/10/2018 18:31

Use a nit comb or flea comb and brush down through their fur onto a piece of paper. Look for fleas or eggs. If fleas evidenced then treat them and your home.

Dadsbigsausages · 20/10/2018 18:33

Forgot to say white stuff brushed off will just be dander, ordinary skin cells. Black bits or red bits are fleas and their waste.

The vet showed me how to do this at a check up.

blackcat86 · 20/10/2018 18:41

Are you using a regular flea treatment? If you suspect fleas already speak to the vet. I was using frontline on my cat 4 weekly but apparently fleas are becoming immune to it. The vet prescribed one stop which did the trick and a spray for the house. Keep on it or they'll come back. Also wash any soft furnishings such as blankets and bedding on 60oc.

Wolfiefan · 20/10/2018 18:43

I wouldn’t. As we treat each month.
See vet. Spot on for cat and Indorex the house.

Black cats are a bugger but otherwise if you can have a peer check their undercroft and around their head. Flea them regularly. You can get Advantage from the chemist so get some and treat them promptly.

Then get a can of flea spray and treat the carpets, give them a bloody good vacuum and stick bedding and throws in a hot wash with borax.

GlitteredAcorns · 20/10/2018 19:08

Cat is treated with advantage regularly but I thought this was for prevention and not treatment.

If the cat is treated regularly I'd speak to my vet before I did anything else so I didn't mix products that shouldn't be mixed and didn't overdose anything.

dementedpixie · 20/10/2018 20:24

Have you found fleas?

Talith · 20/10/2018 21:03

If your puss has had treatment any flea on them will be short lived! If they are still scritching or you've been chomped then it's probably a problem with an interloper in your carpet or they have something else up.

ShriekingBanshee · 21/10/2018 00:38

I have found like all of two fleas on mine, but I am terrified of using indorex because of its warnings about causing allergies. DC has developed asthma and eczema!!! Haloween Sad

GlitteredAcorns · 21/10/2018 07:48

I haven't found any fleas. My DD and I have lots of unexplained insect bites. Very very itchy. My DH and DS have nothing. We're all really puzzled!

Fleas do like the female blood it seems. But weird if you havent combed any fleas.

Did you check in all the classic places?
