What’s this on my cats nose?

Anyone have any idea what this might be? Have tried washing it off but it doesn’t shift. She doesn’t go out much, not really a fighter, so unlikely to be that. Worried it might be skin cancer or something, but she doesn’t go out much, not a sunbather at all. Any ideas?

How long has it been like that and how old is she?

It's difficult to see properly but our cat gets sores on her nose which I understand are basically the cat equivalent of cold sores. She has had them for years and they tend to appear when she is under stress. Your vet will be able to confirm, though.

Thanks. She’s about 5 and has had it about a week or maybe 10 days. Thought it was food for a couple of days, but then when I tried to get it off I realised it wasn’t.

She is generally a bit of a stress monster so that makes sense Flatter.

Think her previous home must have been bad as she is very timid, easily startled and flinches when you go near her head (except for DD who she loves).

She was apparently a ‘bonded pair’ with a male cat we got at the same time, but they don’t seem to like each other much! Bit of a love/hate thing with him. She meows for him when he’s outside and pushes him out of the way when he’s getting tickles, but then he chases her when he’s feeling frisky about once a day (both neutered) and she whacks him and hisses at him. I do think she’d miss him if he wasn’t around, but I think he does cause her some stress.
