Cat stuck in my tree??

Hello, Just after some advice! This morning I noticed a little black cat at the top of our tree in the back garden. I called the Rspca and they won't get involved until after 24-48 hours. I've placed a can of tuna at the top of the garden to entice him/her down but no movement as of yet!

Cats are often too scared to climb down trees. I was involved in a rescue recently where the cat had been there for a whole week. Is there any way you can rig up some sort of planking for it to climb down. Here is a photo of what I used on the rescue I mentioned. It's a ladder covered with cardboard.

Damn, I can't find the photo ...

That ladder is the work of a genius
Any luck, OP?

Thanks ladies. Wow that ladder looks great!

My dp managed to climb the tree, put the cat in a fishing net and rescue him to safety! Was nerve wracking to watch but happy the little kitty is safe now Smile

Oh well done your DP

Oh well done your DP. A neighbour and I faffed around with ladders when our kitten got stuck up her tree, in the end it just took a large man climbing up the tree to scare her down. I have no idea how he did it as the tree didn't look very climbable except he was being watched by a bunch of work mates and didn't want to fall.

Some cats do claw their way up pretty high in some trees and then perhaps realise when they come to get down that things look very different from such a height, so are a little more reluctant on the descent. Well done for helping this one.

My old cat wasn't like that. When he was a youngster he loved to climb up onto the roof of my house and just watch the world below going by. His route was to jump (easily) onto the garden fence, jump (easily again) onto the adjoining garage roof, from where he could jump (easily again, he was an athlete) up onto the roof of the house. He would nonchalantly do the same in reverse to get down.

One morning an elderly lady knocked on my front door just before 7 saying that I needed to call the fire brigade because there was a cat on my roof and it must be marooned. Of course, it was my cat. She found it hard to believe that he wasn't marooned and had got himself up and down many times before. Luckily the cat himself decided to prove me right though - just got up and proudly strode his regular route down. Just as well he did because she was quite het up and I think she was considering calling the fire brigade on me herself. Smile
