Mummy cat attacking her kittens

My girl has 3 kittens, they are 2 1/2 weeks old. Mum has been fantastic, feeding them on demand, washing them, she has barely left their side, today though she started biting them round their necks and tummy, and pinning them Down and kicking them with her back paws. I get that she is probably trying to be a good mum and teaching them but aren't they really young for that. It's breaking my heart Watching her with them like that, I don't know if I should intervene or not

Hi, the Queen is playing and preparing her kittens to become active adults. The play is part of pry learning. Cats are aggressive in play and mating.

The kittens will be fine - I’ve had BSH for over 10yrs. I show and breed them

It sounds normal as long as she is not rejecting them in general (i.e. make sure she is letting them feed and toileting and grooming them etc.).

As a side note I hope you will get your cat spayed (neutered) when the kittens are old enough, there is a huge cat overpopulation problem and it is unfortunate more litters are allowed to be born when rescues are full to busting with cats no one wants to home.

I'm not sure on what is normal bit I wholeheartedly agree with Vicat's second paragraph.
