Cat has poo'd on my pot plant

I don't mean ganja either :) She's new to our house (rescue centre had looked after her for 4 months previously) and had been using litter tray fine until today..hoovering behind sofa I discover she's decided that my pot plant looked like a suitable poo venue ... oh dear.

Obviously have not chastised her at all, as she is only 1 year old and learning how things work round here and I can't reach her as she is under a small chest of drawers - her latest hideout

Any suggestions? Some kind of deterrent spray that might put her off? Or get rid of houseplants? Wondering if her smell remains on the pot and will be attracting her back again.

Ah well, at least it wasn't on the carpet.

The good news is she's coming on leaps and bounds with being sociable, and purrs from within her cat den whenever I chat to her.

She had a mad half hour with a catnip toy last night. Now that really is cat ganja. Lovely to see her playing and having fun though!

Next post from me will be: am I turning my cat into a drug fiend?

I had a similar problem with our cat using the pot plants in the garden. I bought some slate chips and put them on top of the soil. She hasn't used them since.

tbh I find most cats try their luck in new spots every now and then.

I cannot possibly comment without a picture of pusscat. (Obvs not of the poo.)

No picture as she is usually hiding - a very shy rescue. just got her on Sat.

Its like Where's Wally? in our house.

Wally is a great cat name .

Is it a big pot plant with nice soil?

I had to make paper covers for some really big pot plants for my old kitties as they would try go in the pots.

Yes big pot. Decided yesterday to remove temptation, house plants now banished to where she can't get them.

I mainly call her silly sausage Spartacus :)

She just turns her head away in distain.

She prefers to be called Your Ladyship, or perhaps Ma'am.

Accompanied by a deep curtsey naturally.
