Cat gone into chattery

Hi i am normally more of a lurker on these boards , but I have just dropped my cat off at the cattery as we are going on holiday in the morning and I feel devastated , he has been before 2 years ago but I am worried that he will be scared and thinking he has been given away or something I know I'm being stupid but I'm feeling like l don't want to go away now and I'm worried that he will be fretting and anxious. Has any one else felt like this.

Yes - I always feel guilty leaving mine in the cattery, it's normal to have those worries.

Your cat won't be thinking he's been given away - cats are very clever but they can't think hypothetically or theoretically, he's not capable of the 'what if pumpkinzz never comes back' thought process.

He's probably thinking his surroundings aren't as comfortable as his lovely home and he'll register that a different lady or gentleman has become the source of food. Cats don't have a sense of future time, so it will all be very much in the moment for him. He'll probably spend much of his time sleeping.

When you come back he'll be pleased and excited, and he'll get pleasure from re-staking out his territory at home.

No one would pretend going to a cattery is fun for a cat, but it's really not the huge trauma you might fear, simply because a cat's thought processes are too limited to make it one. He will be fine. Have a lovely holiday and try not to worry. Flowers

He'll be absolutely fine. My cats get more fuss at the cat try than at home. I prefer to put mine in the cattery rather than leaving them at home.

Yep feel guilty leaving mine, nearly cry when dropping him off and act like a completely crazy cat lady when I pick him up and kiss him and cuddle him and talk to him in my crazy cat mum voice. Grin

He’s always fine. Enjoy your holiday

Oh don't I have to drop all mine off next week as we are going away for 4 days and I just feel horrible doing so. Plus I am stressing who is going to feed the stray!

Does the cattery have a webcam for you to watch them in your spare time all the time ?Grin

I'm away for a few days at the moment. My two & big boy stray cat, are at home with a friend. It was very hard leaving them but I'm ok now I'm away. Still thinking about them all the time thoughSmile
