Hi! Obligatory picture attached.
I already posted about our 8 month old kitten. We were concerned that she was getting lonely and thought that, whilst she was still young, we’d introduce a new friend. A little brother for our little girl.
He’s 10 weeks old and absolutely beautiful, lovely temperament. Our friends cat had kittens, which is where we got him, so he’s used to other cats.
We got him yesterday and have followed all the rules, he has his own room and he’s settled well in there. The older kitten has been allowed in, when he’s in the box. She hisses at the box and hisses at him, but has only made to swipe him once (but he was in the box), the first time.
This afternoon we played with them both in the same room, keeping them apart. And then gave them treats. There was mutual hissing but they seemed calmer. They eat at either side of the same door and occasionally go into each other’s spaces when the other is away or boxed. The older kitten does, however, always hiss at me when I’ve just stroked him and smell of him.
Are we doing the right thing and does anyone have any more tips? When will we know it’s the right time to let them near each other properly? I’m nervous because she’s so much bigger than him, even though she’s only a kitten too!
