RIP our lovely cat

Our beautiful cat was killed by a car this evening - we adopted him from Cats Protection 3.5 years ago and he's been amazing. He was literally the perfect and most chilled cat ever and so gentle with everyone. Luckily we think it was really quick but it feels so strange knowing we're not going to hear the cat flap rattle and someone come in and ask for something to eat or to be fussed over. I know he had a great time with us (he'd lived inside before so didn't get to do much) but we didn't think it would be this short.

Thanks for you, it's heartbreaking to lose a pet suddenly

Shinesweetfreedom · 09/10/2018 23:02

Ah shit I fucking hate cars and cats.
I hear this so much as a CP sponsor and on Facebook pages.
I don’t know what to say to you,it’s totally shit.
Sounds like you gave him a good if not short time with you.
Sorry x

I'm so sorry.

GU24Mum · 09/10/2018 23:35

Thanks all. I'm trying to reassure the children that he had a great time with them - became a great mouser (a bit too good for my liking sometimes..) and loved exploring in and beyond the garden. We just didn't expect to lose him to soon. But I guess no-one does.

I'm so so sorry. That's tragic. Can you plant a rosebush or somehting in his memory. We had two resuce cats and this happened to one of them after a few months. We were so sad for ages.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 10/10/2018 07:00

I'm so sorry for your loss. RIP little one

Jayneisagirlsname · 10/10/2018 07:46

I'm so sorry to read this. It's heart breaking. It sounds like he had a wonderful life with you all. My children have made a memory box for our cat which has helped them. Thinking of you 💐

Thanks for all the kind messages. We are going to bury him in a nice spot in the garden this evening.

Oh I'm sorry to hear about your lovely boy.

It's horrible when a beloved pet dies. You gave him a happy life. xx

ifonly4 · 10/10/2018 10:28

So sorry OP. It doesn't make it easier at this stage, but try and hold onto the fact you gave him a lovely home, with lots of love and care, and he had a great time.

RIP little man.

recklessruby · 11/10/2018 00:05

So sorry OP I lost my beloved cat last year the same way.

RIP little guy. Thanks

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 11/10/2018 00:24

I'm so sorry. I was in your position a couple of years ago, rehomed a stray who was so chilled, then lost him really suddenly.

I now have 3 rescue cats, but I am not recommending you copy me!

Take peace in the fact that in time, if you want to, his passing means that you can offer a home to another cat. If you don't want to, then you gave him a good life. Lots of Love xx

YesSheCan · 17/10/2018 22:46

So sorry to hear about your dear cat. Mine was the same age when she was killed by a car in August. I was and still am heartbroken. Apparently it's very common for cats to be hit by cars. I am planning a garden enclosure for future cats - no way I'd risk contact with the road ever again. Maybe consider this if you feel able to rehome another cat in the future Flowers
