Advocate spot on melted collar

Recently did the monthly Advocate treatment to both our cats, have been using it for over 12 months with no issues. This time the following day it appeared as though some fur had got caught in one cat's collar. On freeing the fur I realised the back of the plastic safety catch had sort of melted and her fur was welded to it, there is also a blister on her skin. Reported to the vets and they had never heard of this happening. Just wondered if anyone else had experienced this issue with Advocate?

No, I've never heard of this. Is there a particular reason why you're using a collar though? They are generally not advised.

It's a "do not feed me" collar as she has an allergy to turkey protein and goes out on the scrounge unfortunately.

Yes, I have heard of this a lot - it is usual practice to remove collars for 24 hours when giving a spot on flea treatment.
