Moved and cat has done a runner

So I moved into my new house last week. I managed to keep the cats in for a week apart from a few escapes. This morning one managed to escape out the window and not been seen since.
I'm totally panicking. It's been since about 8am and it's now 7. He never stays away from home.
I've been out calling and calling all day but nothing.
Is it to early to report him missing? Do people think he'll come back??
I'm beside myself.

Have you moved far? My old cat used to go on walkabout and make his way back to our old house, a journey of about 5 miles. The first time was awful, he was missing for a couple of weeks but turned up in the garden, mowing at the new owners to be let in.

After that, he seemed to know the way and went 2 or 3 times a year.

As you've been there for a week, he should be familiar and have a good idea of his new home. He's probably got involved with something and become destracted. Put something that smells of him and you outside. Some people say to put his used litter outside, so that he can smell it. Hope he's back with you soon.

A any sign of him OP?

Walk up and down the street calling for him. Knock on some doors. Put flyers through doors.

You need a torch so his eyes reflect in the light.

He came back! Late last night. We had to go out and left the baby sitter here. She looked out the French doors and he was sat looking in. He's usually so confident but when she opened the door he ran away.
I had an awful night until I got the call saying he was home. He was covered in tiny seeds and so hungry.
Funnily enough today he didn't even attempt to escape. I think he's realised outside isn't as fun as he thought.

Glad he's back ok. He just wanted to explore the surroundings and find his territory. He'll be able to find his way back again now.

Fab news. It's such a relief, isn't it. Grounded Grin

He's gone again!! Two days this time. I think he hates our new house. I'm wondering if he's trying to aim for the old house.
Blooming cats obviously I'm beside myself but pretending to be okay
