Found a kitten!

I work on a holiday resort and today we rescued a - probably feral- kitten that had somehow become stuck between two walls. We took the wall down to save the little mite 😎

At first it was hissing up a storm and would not let anyone near the box we had put it in but after a while, having had some water and a bit of ham (the only thing we had to hand!) it turns out this is the sweetest little black kitten you could imagine!!

It is only very young and we have looked around to see if we could find mum but no luck.

My colleague is keeping her at their house until the weekend, and then....she is coming to live with us!!!

Is it wrong that I am super excited?! Making vet appointment tomorrow to have her checked over and shopping for kitten litter tray etc.

The only worry is how our 3 year old Scaredy Cat will take to her! Then again, how can anyone (even a Scaredy Cat) not instantly fall in love with such a cute little bubba?!

Day made 👍

Marley45 · 26/09/2018 19:13

And you stars taking down the wall to save her!

HellToupee · 26/09/2018 19:21

EachandEveryone we are doing a thorough recce tomorrow to see if we can see/find any more kittens and possibly mum. That way we can maybe rescue them all or even leave some food out.

Marley we just had to - the mewing was pitiful!

HellToupee · 26/09/2018 19:30

Defo buy a lotto ticket! She's adorable and black cats are really lucky (potential good name for the cat too )Smile

Mum will be there. You need to call in a proper charity who will trap the mum, but don't take the kittens away first or she will just go off. Call Cats Protection and hopefully they will be able to help. Also look on www.catchat.org for other rescues in your area. You need a rescue that does trapping.

HellToupee · 28/09/2018 05:54

We called three cat rescues/charities and none of them could take them!
Personally I would be very worried they would be PTS since there is apparently such a “surplus” (for want of a better word, sorry!) of cats/kittens. They now have access to a shelter with food and water and we hope it may bring mum out of the woodwork.

It’s the mum that needs neutering then you can have four resort cats Smile. Is it a caravan park? Will be lovely for them are you all handling them?

thecatneuterer · 29/09/2018 23:06

I wasn't suggesting that you should give the kittens to a shelter. I meant that, before taking the kittens away, a rescue needs to come to get the mum for trap/neuter/return, and that will be very much more difficult, if not impossible, once the kittens have been taken.

If you just take the kittens then you will be certainly helping those particular kittens, but if you can get the mum neutered you will be saving literally thousands.

So for now you should feed them and try to find a rescue that does trapping and neutering to help. Cats Protection are probably your best bet.

She looks very young, you really need to trap mum so she can keep feeding them. They are too young to be taken away.
