Cat breeds with very short whiskers

Hi I'm hoping someone can identify this breed for me. I bought a cat notebook today and when I got home I was shocked to notice that the whiskers look photoshopped out or cut off. Does anyone know what this breed is and whether they normally have short whiskers?

Look cut to me too. Don't taper and whiskers are meant to be as wide as the cat... sad.

QuestionableMouse · 22/09/2018 22:49

They do look cut. Looks like a long hair that's been trimmed.

Yes I also thought they were meant to be as wide as the cat so they can sense their environment. I purchased the notebook from a big retailer. They should not be supporting photographers who cut whiskers off!! I can't help but see an abused cat in the image.

Cat looks like an exotic short hair - like all cats they have normal length whiskers... weI'll, they're meant to... Sad

It's a persian exotic shorthair and someone has cut his whiskers. Although my exotic has broken whiskers.

Cats loose their whiskers naturally at a certain age I can no longer remember. They grow back.

My friend has a Selkirk Rex cross and her whiskers always break. It's something to do with their curly coats.

Toddlerteaplease your cat is gorgeous. Magnificent whiskers!

Looks very photoshopped to me. It's a Persian head but it's not quite right Looking closely those whiskers are definitely cut. The Persian is a long haired breed with short hair on the head and front of face with longer hair to the cheeks and the whiskers should curve downwards and be at least as long to be wide enough for the cat to be able to judge if he can get through some places. If this cat is real some one has been very cruel cutting his means of navigation

wineandcheeseplease · 23/09/2018 18:47

They look cut. Awful

Cwot1tsay · 23/09/2018 18:56

No the face is too flat and the nose too squashed to be an exotic. Cat breed book in hand

Toddlerteaplease · 23/09/2018 19:14

I think it looks like an exotic

I didn't include his ears in the photo but he has black tips on his ears if that helps. Not sure if the black fur is on top of ears or just tips.
