Help me choose my new cat

I need some help!!

I'm trying to choose which rescue cat to rehome and getting nowhere in deciding so hoping you wise ladies might be able to help me.

We're a family with 4 children, youngest being 6. We have a cat age 10 and 2 dogs.

We've narrowed our choice to 2 gorgeous boys.

There is Stanley, he's 2, was a stray. He's very playful and friendly and seems to like the kids.

There's also Dixie who's 8, been back to the rescue Home twice through no fault of his own. He's very handsome, not quite as friendly as Stanley but comes to greet you at his enclosure.

We don't know how they'd be with dogs. Stanley has dogs walking past his enclosure and isn't dazed. Dixie has had no exposure to them.

Please help me choose

Sorry forgot to put photos on.

Stanley is the white cat, Dixie is the tabby

I can’t choose so will have to say both!

hugglesfor4 · 20/09/2018 21:15

I would but my current cat wouldn't be happy. We've asked the kids, span a coin and pulled names out of a hat - all goes 50/50.

We have to make a final decision tomorrow and I just can't choose!!

Both 🤷🏼‍♀️

stroop · 20/09/2018 21:46

Oh I love both, but Dixie is a bit cuter whilst Stanley is more elegant. I think I'd go with Dixie ♥️

MadCatEnthusiast · 20/09/2018 22:03

I'd pick Stanley if i was in your position

Toddlerteaplease · 20/09/2018 22:08

Both but if not then Dixie as he's older and already had two homes.

hugglesfor4 · 21/09/2018 14:24

Well - the decision on which cat has been made for us. The rescue centre walked one of their quiet dogs past Dixie's enclosure today and he freaked out. Wouldn't be fair to bring him here with 2 lively dogs!

Fingers crossed the home check goes ok tonight and we can bring Stanley home tomorrow x

I would have said Dixie but his reaction to the dog shows he could never be happy living with you.

Best of luck with Stanley hope he settles in well.

viccat · 22/09/2018 09:55

I was going to say Stanley. A home with four kids, dogs and another cat is a lot to get used to for most cats and he sounds like the most likely one to be able to take it in his stride.

Beaverhausen · 22/09/2018 10:01

Good luck with Stanley, what a lovely name too. :) And thank you for adopting. xx

userabcname · 22/09/2018 10:06

Ahhh congrats OP! I was going to vote for Stanley too. Hope he settles in well.

hugglesfor4 · 22/09/2018 16:06

We brought him home at lunchtime. He's very friendly and is loving fusses round his ears. He's had something to eat and is currently sat beside his bed in his room.

He's seen the dogs from behind a baby gate and didn't hiss or spit which is good.

He is a very gorgeous boy and obviously photogenic. :)

Take good care of him he needs it after starting his darling life as a stray and no doubt he will repay you in abundance.

hugglesfor4 · 23/09/2018 07:50

Stanley was very confident last night. Came in the lounge when the dogs were there, let one of them sniff his back and ended up stretched out on the sofa Grin

Still early days as he's currently hiding in his room away from the dogs but I think he's going to be fine here

Lovely little fella, he looks very comfortable in his new home🐱

LucheroTena · 23/09/2018 08:56

Ah he’s lovely, looks very at home already. He’ll soon be in charge.

Oh, I love happy endings.

Stanley has his forever home. Now, it's time for Dixie to find one, too.

Longdistance · 23/09/2018 23:17

Aww, look at Stanley making himself at home 😻

hugglesfor4 · 24/09/2018 09:50

Stanley's definitely settling in well. This is him and this morning looking outside whilst the dog is asleep in his bed

Good news - Dixie has found new owners and went to his new home at the weekend. So pleased he hasn't been left waiting in the rescue centre.

We definitely got chosen by the right cat - this was him on Saturday night. He just climbed in when the dog was asleep!

My childhood cat was called Dixie, she was tough as old boots and lived to 23! I’m voting both or Dixie x

Wellfuckmeinbothears · 02/10/2018 13:02

Oh sorry, that’ll serve me right for skim reading! Glad Dixie has a new home and hope Stanley settles in well x

RaisinRainbow · 02/10/2018 20:14

What an amazing outcome - Stanley seems right at home, it must be such a pleasure to see him getting on well with the dogs. What a lovely story to follow, thanks for sharing and esp for the photos, just lovely!
