My cat is frontlined every month but for some reason he still has fleas this month and it says don't give it to high more than monthly. I combed him through but I'm still seeing them on him. Some were dead but some were very much alive.

Now me and the children are being bitten. I got staykil plus and sprayed the entire house and have washed the bedding every bloody day like a woman possessed. But we are still getting bitten.

Is my only option getting someone in to do it?? I'm becoming obsessed with this and I can't take it anymore!! Please help

Frontline doesn’t work. You need to get stronghold or another prescription only one from the vet. They are expensive but work. Then use indorex spray in your house and cat bedding etc.

Rushofbirdsinflight · 11/09/2018 18:50

Ahh I've just ordered indorex from amazon but its not coming til next week. Frontline has worked before, this is the first month it's stopped. I'll ring my vet tomorrow. Will they have to see my cat first?

I could have written your post about 3 months ago. Frontline just stopped working - I’ve used it for years. Fleas everywhere, kids covered in bites, I was in tears over it. We paid someone to come and spray the house and took cats to the vet to get prescription stuff for cats. Since then, flea free! Vet said there are lots of problems with fleas not responding to overs the counter stuff at the moment.

TeenagersandFurbabies · 11/09/2018 18:55

You need to get some Advocate from the vets for your cat and a couple of cans of Indorex for you house. You will need to spray absolutely everywhere including curtains, mattresses etc, underneath all your furniture and in any cracks or crevices. Also wash everything as fleas drown.

Namethecat · 11/09/2018 18:57

There are two types of Frontline. The stuff you can get from a non vet ( i.e. Pets at home, other pet shops etc) these are supposed to kill the live flea. The other Frontline from the vet also stops the eggs hatching out, so supposedly lasts the full month and stop 're infestation.

I grew up in flea infested houses.
Fleas swim very well, actually.
I used frontline (regular & plus) for years & it just suddenly stopped working.
There's another thread about Advantage is mostly same active ingredient as Advocate but much cheaper & no prescription required.

AccidentallyRunToWindsor · 11/09/2018 19:05

We get the house sprayed twice a year and use frontline but I have just seen 2 fleas on my sofa 😫

The pest control guy said that fleas have become immune to frontline now 😕

Rushofbirdsinflight · 11/09/2018 20:03

Thanks can I just buy advantage from pets at home? I don't need s prescription do I? I am losing the plot over this, I feel like I'm becoming totally irrational over this. It's risking over my life :(

You need to get prescription flea treatment from vets. I didn't even know people still used Frontline!

SarahMused · 20/09/2018 20:24

You can buy Advantage online. It works on my cats and doesn’t need a presciption. The active ingredient is imidacloprid which is the same as some prescription only ones but it is a lot cheaper.

AccidentallyRunToWindsor · 20/09/2018 20:26

I bought advantage at the weekend for my brood of mogs and it seems to have worked fairly well. They are less itchy and I've seen less fleas about. It was from pets at home and was about £25

AccidentallyRunToWindsor · 20/09/2018 20:27

You need to see how much your cat weighs before you go as an FYI
